My Counselling Style

The respectful and people centred approach of Narrative Therapy influences my work. Narrative Therapy is the telling and re-telling of your life stories until we find times when the negatives or oppression haven’t been as strong; and resilience, determination and boldness create new stories of hope and courage.

Many traditional methods of counselling don’t work for people who are differently abled or who find oral communication difficult, so I also use visual, non-verbal methods in an array of creative arts therapies.

I believe successful counselling addresses the whole person – emotional, physical, mental and spiritual.

Life can be so bound up in disability and illness, that other areas of strength are overlooked.

We will work together to uncover, nurture and grow the strengths that you have.

Although I am based in West Auckland, I acknowledge that people who might like to see me for counselling live in different areas. I am able to organise for us to meet in an accessible venue near your home. I also offer counselling by Skype, so people anywhere in New Zealand or the world can receive the support they need.
